What is Preschool Promise?

Preschool Promise offers free school day, school year preschool options for eligible families with children ages 3 and 4.

Preschool Promise offers culturally relevant early child care and education programs. Programs are in a wide variety of settings including home-based, center-based, and school-based care. Families are able to apply for whichever program meets their needs best. We currently have Preschool Promise providers in Gilliam, Hood River, Sherman, Wasco & Wheeler Counties.

Eligible children must be:

  • Between the ages of 3 and 4 years old.

  • Living in Gilliam, Hood River, Sherman, Wasco or Wheeler Counties.

  • Household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line (or) child is in resource care. See chart for income limits.

Preschool Promise Programs

  • Help your child prepare for kindergarten

  • Create an inclusive, welcoming environment for all children and families, regardless of ability, family composition, culture, language, or family income

  • Operate in a wide variety of settings: centers, homes, and schools

  • Support parents as partners in their child’s learning and development

  • Designed for children aged 3-5 (your child must be age 3 by September 1st and not yet eligible for Kindergarten.)
